A story of giving up...
Sage closed the door slowly. She walked towards the elevator to leave with his brother Stephen, who was waiting downstairs. Sage and Stephen, like many people in life, grew up in difficult conditions. She was a young girl who lived with her sick mother and with her brother who was about to enter adolescence and took on the responsibility of earning money to make a living at a young age.
She had devoted herself so much to work in recent years... She took his hands off his brother. How could she not realize that he had fallen among such bad people? Everything happened slowly; without being noticed, without revealing itself. Her brother's attitude had sunk fast, without her noticing. She would sometimes pick him up from the neighborhood or the police station because of his occasional fights. But this time it was a complete disaster!
She wiped away the two tears that fell from her cheek. How had she not realized that he had made such bad friends? Until the other evening, she searched for him for hours, spread the word, and barely found him. And in a dirty, filthy toilet corner, in a state of ecstasy…
Sage cried for hours next to Stephen. Nothing would be the same from now on. Sage was going to give up on her brother, and his brother on his addiction. She had to give what he needed most to his brother. Whom he had made concessions and fell all over for years. Her stance about this situation was unequivocal. He would either give up his addiction or his family...
Raising someone, even if you lived in the same house or had siblings, was challenging. Did she do everything she said too much? Or did she compromise too much?
Being able to give up something would of course come with a price. Just as it would be very difficult for a person to give up on her brother... The story of the sacrifice she heard from her grandmother years ago was a life lesson. They couldn't understand it then. She had always thought about how a father would want to slaughter his son. It's like giving up your life... because a person becomes a prisoner of everything that you cannot give up.
Hard times…
Is it ever easy to give up on the one you love?
Sometimes holding the other person tightly, letting go calmly, and knowing how to give up when necessary! Like a victim, she said to herself. Sacrificing something so that something else can be restored.
For the first time, she realized that the word sacrifice had so much meaning.
The upcoming Eid al-Adha would be much more meaningful this time.
Every choice is a giving up, but what are we giving up? For whom are we giving up? And what do we sacrifice?
So, is it a matter of being a victim or giving a sacrifice?
They were about to arrive, Sage wiped the tears flowing down her cheek while looking out the window.
Two days later it was going to be Eid al-Adha. Until a few years ago, they used to spend this time with their elders.
Now?
Who will you find in Eid in two days?
This Eid, Sage gave up on her brother and Stephen gave up on his addiction. Frankly, everyone made their sacrifice.
Every desire takes its victim. Either at the beginning or at the end...
Abraham also made his sacrifice. For whom? For God's sake! He gave up the one he loved for the sake of Allah...
So, what should we understand from Ishmael, Abraham, the knife that did not cut, and the ram that came down from the sky?
So what do we give up, what do we sacrifice? From which mistake do we turn?
As for the holiday...
There are still those who miss their childhood and the holidays of their childhood. Despite all the difficulties, the holiday rush continues to be experienced in many homes.
Just as it is difficult to overcome difficulties alone... Holidays are the times that unite us, bring us together, and move forward together... Times when we face those difficulties...
Difficult things will come, of course. The point is not how it comes, but how it goes when it leaves...
The messages in our renunciations are important. If every choice is a giving up, our choices are also important. So, let's put forward solid renunciations. Let's make a sincere surrender this holiday.
Happy Eid-al-Adha...
