AN UPSIDE-DOWN WORLD

When I was a child and learned that the world was round, I asked my teacher, “Then why don’t the things at the bottom of the world fall?” She said to me, “Don’t ask such ridiculous questions.” Since then, I have been careful not to ask ridiculous questions. Because something that seems ridiculous to someone, may seem right to me; and something that seems right to me, may seem ridiculous to someone. I would like to thank the teacher who gave me this awareness at primary school.

When we look at people's lives, don't we have a hard time understanding what is right and what is wrong? Absolute truths, rules, wrongs, and criticisms change according to whom and what. While lying down in front of an elder in one family is disrespectful, in another family it can be a detail that is completely ignored. While smoking is something that should be hidden from elders in most families, in some it is quite normal to tell a teen, "Let's have a cigarette and coffee."

So what does normal mean?

From time to time, I wonder if I am normal. Most of the time I like the answer I give myself. Because yes, I am not normal and I don't like being normal. Just as I don't like being normal, I don't like being abnormal either. It seems more appropriate to try to form the filters in my life not according to behaviors but according to mind, heart, conscience, compassion, and logic.

The fact that I don't do the same things as others, like I don't go with the flow or look in the same direction, often bothers even those closest to me. But despite this, I can feel that they secretly appreciate me. Because even though I'm upside down, like those stuck under the world, I struggle not to fall, and they know this very well.

I look around, I see the abnormal becoming normal. Then I examine . Why do people act like this, thinking only about themselves? When eating, choosing their clothes, talking to the person next to them... I can explain the reason for this as follows; people want to do what suits them without thinking too much. I don't think too much so that I don't realize I'm doing something wrong. Then I see that the wrong behaviors I've done have accumulated so much that I've reached the point where I wonder how I'm going to get out of this. So what happened now? My world turned upside down...

Sometimes people say my world turned upside down, and I reply, “You can’t know if the top is better than the bottom,” I am personally reporting from the bottom and I claim for sure it isn’t. While the bottom is better than the top, the reason behind the existence of the top is that there is a bottom. Because everything in this life is created with the opposite. How we look at its opposite is also in our hands. Do we seek to learn from it or want to complain?

We say that nothing is going the way it should be, but when something is not going well, it never occurs to us that we are trying to swim against the current. However, the cure is in the opposite direction. Look how nicely we say it with our mouths. It is not in the right path, it is in the opposite direction.. However, for some reason, it never occurs to us to turn and walk in the other direction. We never want to know or think that we are in the opposite direction. However, the only thing to do is to turn back and walk. This is the mystery hidden in the problem, the real solution to the problem... But one does not want to understand this. It clashed with our ego.

Don't we need to know the opposite to understand right from wrong, beauty from ugliness? If there are no disadvantages in life, how can we understand our advantages? However, the rules of life are clear. Even what seems like a disadvantage to me has an advantage to it. While I make mistakes, the rules of life don’t make any mistakes. Besides, isn't rejecting the rules of life like declaring war on the mills? The one who starts this war is, in reality, the disadvantaged one... So, when it is already hard enough to stand under the weight of the world, why do we need to be Don Quijote?
